Book 4 of Fury of a Rising Dragon series progressing along nicely

On the weekends I typically still do a little writing. It keeps the flow of the story going and I actually really like hanging out with my characters :) Currently I’m more than halfway through the fourth book of the Fury of a Rising Dragon series — sitting at 136,000 words so far!

The Arinthian Line series (complete): Arcane Riven Valor Clash Legend The Fury of a Rising Dragon series (complete): Burden's Edge Honor's Price Mercy's Trial Champion's Wrath I grew up on Dragonlance and probably spent way too much time playing role-playing games. Then came the video games. But then, Nintendo was life in Toronto of '86. As a matter of fact, much of my youth could be considered "wasted" exploring escapism of one form or another. Now I'm a full-time author living in British Columbia, Canada. I have a wife who taught me what it means to love someone unconditionally. Buddha, my grumpy but rumpled-with-love cat, likes to keep watch from a Lego castle near my desk. (Update: said Lego castle has long been dismantled. Now she basks under a sun lamp). I suppose my favorite sagas are Harry Potter, Ender's Game, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and Game of Thrones. I also love true-life survival tales like Into Thin Air, Shadowdivers, and Perfect Storm. As for movies, I regularly re-watch Bladerunner, Star Wars, Highlander, Aliens, Limitless, Edge of Tomorrow, Interstellar, Lost in Translation, and Margin Call. But I've been most inspired by Harry Potter. Seriously, because if it hadn't been for HP, I'd never have dared. I simply stood on the shoulders of a giant. Thank you for writing that story, Joanne Rowling, it was extremely re-readable. I can only hope to capture my readers' imagination as you have captured mine. When I was a kid, I dreamed I could spread my arms as wings, jump off the ground, and fly. My head was in the clouds (and in many ways, still is). It would be fair to say that my love of fantasy began then, steadily refined by movies, video games, and cozy books. As for me, I enjoy talking to my readers, so if you read one of my books, you're welcome to shoot me an email at severbronny@gmail.com. Throw me a question, comment, or just say hello. I blog at severbronny.com when the mood strikes me, and I'm on social media now and then. I don't publish too often, but you can subscribe to my newsletter to receive a notification when I do release new work (newsletter signup is at severbronny.com/contact). (I was also a musician at one time, having released three albums with my industrial-rock band Tribal Machine.) When all is said and done, I know how fortunate I am to be a full-time author. I think about it often--especially when I recall what it was like working the grind. Thus I humbly thank each and every reader for supporting my work.

  1. I wanted to leave a reply as I do love your books. I am a late life reader as I always had problems with comprehension when reading so it was not a pleasant experience for me until Audible came around. At age 45 about 7 years ago I started listening and drinking up books at a crazy rate… My library has now exceeded 450+ in just 7 years. Being disabled audible has allowed me to regain some health and love of life in the form of books. I always use them to force exercise with the book being my motivation.. that is until your series… I try, but me out walking 10 hours a day would break me lol. I find I cannot stop listening. I do hope your 4th book is coming out for Audible as well. I would also like to suggest for your earlier post that while others are waiting for the next book, the Spellmonger Series by Terry Mancour is also a great series to listen to or read. Thank you for the great books!

    1. Thank you so much, Anthony, glad my work is holding your interest. I’ll have an update regarding audio hopefully by the end of the year.

Congratz on all that reading, that’s amazing!

  2. Hello again just wanted to say lookng forward to the next book having just finished zens quest for immortality book (1-78/aptheosis) and have been runing low on books that i like and are long enough to take me more than a few hours also not to flex or anything but im on week 60 in a row for reading on kindle hoping it comes out by week 65 😅

  3. I really like the trio in both series. My favorite scene is when Anna Atticus Stone brings doom upon her son’s camp to free Augum. In this series, I think one of my favorite scenes is when the trio battle the necromantic dragons.

    1. One day I hope to write about Anna’s youth, as she was a bit of a tempestuous firecracker who took no guff from anyone.

Glad you enjoyed those scenes, Mitchell, and good choices!

  4. Has anyone approached you about a tv or movie deal? Would you be interested if they did so? I’m a 30 something male and find both series very engrossing to say the least. If it were made into a series it would have all the elements that made GOT a hit, but with a much better ending!

    1. I get a ton of fan mail asking for it to be turned into a movie franchise (and originally wrote it to be turned into one), but I haven’t been approached by anyone yet. If it continues to grow, perhaps I’ll get lucky and someone with clout will come along and get the ball rolling :)

Glad you’re enjoying my work, Philip! Any favorite scenes? Any favorite characters? Always curious.

  5. I absolutely love this series favorite series ever i was 11 when i started theese books and im 13 now i often think about how awesome it would be to have telekenesis as a muscle that constantly gets stronger my favorite sene was when aug dropped the box on the dragon pretty funny to think about apex predators of a diffrent(planet plane dimention or somthing) geting killed by a small little box i like the fact that you added him pushing it down as hard as he could but i like to think he spun it really fast and it just drills thrugh it hope the next book just as good as the other books

    1. Adding a spin to it would have been interesting! Glad you’re enjoying my work, Brady, and I hope to continue to inspire you in the books to come :)

  6. Both of the series (The Arinthian Line and Fury of a Rising Dragon) are absolutely incredible. I can’t get enough any of the books. I just finished Mercy’s Trial and I regret finishing it because now I have the long wait until the next one is released!
You mentioned to others about scenes that were some personal favorites. I love when they get to flex their arcane muscle. For example, when Augum unleashes his rage and absolutely stomps out the competition. Or, when Anna Stone gets to showcase her insane abilities. I think you also do a good job of making me dislike the enemy. Both Robin and Katrina are the worst and I would like nothing more than for Augum to squish their brains out (being vague as to not reveal details). It is also great being able to follow the characters as they get better and better at their craft. I just hope the full series doesn’t stop until the trio reaches 20th degree or become master warlocks!
I could go on and on, but keep up the good work. These books are amazing.

    1. Thank you very much, Justin! I’m knee-deep in the editing stage of FoaRD, book 4, and am on schedule for a December launch. I am not sure when the trio’s story will end, but I still have a lot of ideas for them as they age and progress.

Glad you’re enjoying my work, Dustin, and thank you for the kind message :)

  7. i have been a avid reader all my life. hundreds off books under my belt, but the story of the trio is by far one of the best.

  8. OMG I finished all the books so far and can’t wait for the next one. I’m going to have a hard time waiting! I love all the books and my favorite scene is where the trio turn into dragons and fight the necromantic dragons!! I’m looking forward to maybe a side series about Mrs. Stone’s youth! I would love that SO much! This is my total favorite book series and I love everything about it.

    1. Glad you’re enjoying my work, Izzy! Book 4 is on schedule for a December launch. And yes I intend on one day writing about Mrs. Stone’s youth.

Great scene choice! Now did you have any favorite characters?

  9. I have been waiting for the fourth book , Fury of rising dragon , what seems like forever! I can not wait until it is relesed. This is my all time favorite series ever.

    1. Thank you, Kerry, glad you’re enjoying my work. I ask this often: do you have any favorite scenes? Any favorite characters? I’m always curious.

Book 4 on schedule to launch in December, btw.

      1. I liked someone’s comment about diving into the life of Mrs. Stone. This would fit nicely into the section where they visit Ley. If they do, haven’t read all of book 3 dragon series yet.

  10. On book 3 of Fury of a rising dragon. I have to wait till December!! Ugh lol I absolutely love theses books. The longer the better. Are you sure you want it to end after book 4? I’m 46yrs old, Male, home dealing with cancer. These books have made my days so much better. Who should I read that you suggest while waiting for December?

    1. Hello James!

Don’t worry, the trio’s adventures will continue with more series’ :)

I’d suggest Viktor Kloss’s academy series, I suspect you’d enjoy that.

I am sorry to hear about your struggle with cancer, and wish you a speedy recovery and much coziness in these trying times.

  11. i love your book series! i cried when i realized the fourth book of Fury of a Rising Dragon hadnt come out, and im happy to hear that it will come out in december

  12. Im hyped, ngl. Not tryna rush you, but any rough estimate of what time itd come out. And how are you doing with Coronavirus???

    1. On track for a December launch!

And my wife and I went into self isolation yesterday, just to be safe. Luckily, my job (writing the trio’s story full-time) is an indoor job =P

      1. Sure is. Where I am i have no school for 6 weeks. So a lot of time of reading great books (Like yours)

  13. Yessss! I’m so glad to hear that, and I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
(Do you think this will be the last one, or will we have to wait for Champion’s Wrath?) *Fingers crossed it’s the latter

    1. Yes about to finish book 3 so as long as book 4 is done say in the next 2 hrs I will be happy. Been a great set of books.

    2. I finished the 4th of 3d book(i last read it months back…I was in the book where they cross into the other world(i forgot what’s it called..forgive me)
So far…it has been the best book I have ever read…and I have read alot. The magic system is unrivalled. It is so sad to see (in my opinion) average books like Harry potter doing better than this series in terms of popularity…..
I can’t wait for more books…once they are published i will binge read the whole series from start…
I kinda wonder what Blackstone would have achieved if occulus’ descendants would have taught him all they knew….

      1. I’m honored that you enjoy my work that much, especially against such behemoths as Harry Potter.

And I cannot wait for you and everyone else to read what I have up my sleeve for book 4 of FoaRD. I’m laying low right now during the hardcore editing phase, but updates will come soon.
